Artists’ moments of self-discovery
An exhibition at the 32 Edgewood gallery this spring focused on early works by 34 alumni artists from the past 60 years, which revealed their earliest moments of self-discovery and self-identification as an artist. Hey You! Who Me? was the last exhibition organized by Dean Robert Storr before he stepped down as dean. Included in the show were works by Robert Mangold ’63MFA, Garry Trudeau ’70, ’73MFA, and Njideka Akunyili Crosby ’11MFA, among others.
Dean awarded Guggenheim fellowship
Dean Robert Storr is one of three Yale faculty members to receive a 2016 Guggenheim fellowship. He and his Yale colleagues are among the 175 artists, scholars, and scientists from the US and Canada to be so honored this year by the John Simon Guggenheim Foundation, chosen from a pool of nearly 3,000 applicants. The fellows received this honor based on their “impressive achievement in the past and exceptional promise for future accomplishment.” Storr retired in May as dean of the Yale School of Art.
