Alumni honor student magazine
To celebrate the newest honor for one of Yale’s undergraduate magazines, The New Journal—named America’s “Best Student Magazine” last June by the Society of Professional Journalists—dozens of the magazine’s alumni gathered in April in Branford College to take part in panels designed for today’s students. Discussion focused on strategies for creating the best journalism, in any publication and anywhere. Returning New Journal authors came back from as far as Mexico City and included current writers and editors from the Atlantic, Bloomberg, CBS, Economist, Foreign Affairs, Harper’s, Mississippi Today, New York Times, New Yorker, NPR, Paris Review, Pro Publica, Report for America, Science, Washington Post, and more.

Stravinsky work performed on campus
On February 18, the Yale Symphony Orchestra, Yale Dance Lab, and Schwarzman Center hosted the New Haven premiere of a full dance and orchestra production of Igor Stravinsky’s iconic work, Le Sacre du printemps (The Rite of Spring). Originally conceived in 2020, this production was three years in the making, and involved the hard work of 90 musicians and ten dancers under the musical direction of Maestro William Boughton and choreography by faculty members Emily Coates ’06, ’22PhD, and Lacina Coulibaly. The performances were recorded and will be available to the public soon.
