Living Village honored for “visionary” use of glass

Yale Divinity School’s Living Village has won an award for its “visionary” use of glass as both an aesthetic feature and a key contributor to the building’s success in meeting its sustainability goals. At a national glass association conference in March, the Living Village was given top prize for the Northeast region, praised for “pairing a bold vision with measurable performance” and for using glass “not just as an aesthetic feature but also as a key contributor to energy goals and comfort.” The Living Village features bird-safe glass, large windows that allow residents to maintain visual contact with the surrounding landscape, and high-performance glass for energy conservation and temperature and noise insulation. “Through the Village’s creative use of glass and other building materials and design approaches, we hope to demonstrate not only the benefits but also the feasibility of building in harmony with the living world,” YDS dean Greg Sterling said.

Conference focuses on 2026 elections

The Center for Public Theology and Public Policy at Yale Divinity School held its biennial conference in April, attracting more than 400 faith leaders, organizers, theologians, students, and scholars to a gathering that was part academic convocation, part call to action, and part religious revival. The three-day event—titled “What Are the Moral and Spiritual Issues of the 2026 Elections?”—focused on authoritarianism and religious nationalism. The center’s director, Bishop William Barber, said he was overjoyed by the number of people who attended and are committing themselves to the work of public theology. “When persons of faith see situations they cannot continue to put up with, and are willing to sacrifice to contradict those realities, it’s in that space that hope is born,” he said. An in-depth story about the conference is available on the Divinity School website.
