Assistant dean appointed

Nancy Yao ’99MBA has been appointed assistant dean of student life and diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging / assistant professor adjunct of theater management at David Geffen School of Drama, effective March 1. 

A graduate of Occidental College, Nancy holds an MBA from the Yale School of Management. From 2009 to 2014, she was executive director of the Yale-China Association, managing over 30 student, faculty, and professional programs in education, health, and the arts to build international connections at the grass-roots level. She served in 2015–23 as president of the Museum of Chinese in America. Since 2018, she has been lecturer in theater management at the Geffen School, teaching courses in both governance and financial accounting.

Nancy brings to her new position decades of leadership experience as a staff or board member at the Center for Finance and Research Analysis, CNN, the Community Fund for Women and Girls, Council on Foreign Relations, Goldman Sachs & Co., International Festival of Arts and Ideas, and Tessitura Network. She was also a founding member of Here and Now Theater Company, and has appeared onstage in Connecticut, New York, and Hong Kong.
