Global Network schools create immersion program
The Yale School of Management, along with four other member schools of the Global Network for Advanced Management in Brazil, China, Turkey, and Spain, has launched a global immersion program to offer students the opportunity for intensive study in another country.
Each school will host an academic program organized around a topic distinctive to the school or its region and featuring some of its most sought-after faculty. Yale SOM’s course will showcase its strengths in behavioral economics, behavioral finance, consumer behavior, negotiations, and complex managerial challenges fraught with the bounded rationality of human behavior. Company visits, cultural activities, and networking will complement the academic experience.
The Global Network for Advanced Management is a consortium of 22 international business schools, including Yale SOM, that connects faculty, students, and deans with their peers worldwide to improve business education in an increasingly globalized, more competitive world.
Four named Donaldson Fellows
Four Yale SOM graduates who exemplify SOM’s mission to educate leaders for business and society have been named 2012–13 Donaldson Fellows. In their roles in the private, public, and nonprofit sectors, they have all addressed major problems facing an increasingly complex and globalized world.
The 2012–13 Fellows are: Christine Bader ’00MBA, nonresident senior fellow, The Kenan Institute for Ethics at Duke University and human rights advisor, BSR (Business for Social Responsibility); Don Gips ’89MBA, US ambassador to South Africa; Nadim Matta ’89MPPM, president, Rapid Results Institute and senior partner, Schaffer Consulting; and Liang (Leon) Meng ’97MPPM, cofounder, Ascendent Capital Partners Limited. The four visited the Yale SOM campus February 7–8 to participate in a series of panels and discussion groups with students.
