Light & VerityGeek chicA café for the engineering set. Mark Zurolo '01MFAView full imageThe ground floor of the Becton Center got a lot cooler last fall with the debut of the Center for Engineering Innovation and Design, a kind of high-tech workshop for students. Now they have a fuel source to keep them innovating and designing: a new café dubbed Ground—a triple-entendre referencing its location, the presence of coffee, and electrical engineering. The centerpiece is a digital panel on one wall and the ceiling, consisting of 24,000 ever-changing light-emitting diodes. Cooler still, people in the Yale community can contribute their own displays for the panel.
