Nine senior fellows join Jackson School
Senior Fellows are leading practitioners in various fields of international affairs who spend a year or semester at Yale teaching courses and mentoring students. This year’s group includes Elliot Ackerman, author and former Marine; André de Ruyter, former CEO of Eskom; Beth Goldberg ’18MA/MBA, head of research and development at Jigsaw; David Leonhardt ’94, a senior writer for the New York Times; Andy Makridis, former chief operating officer of the CIA; Robert Malley, former CEO of the International Crisis Group; Duvvuri Subbarao, former governor of the Reserve Bank of India; Leslie Tsou, a retired US ambassador; and Alix Zwane, CEO of the Global Innovation Fund.
Newest graduate class arrives
On August 29, the Jackson School welcomed its new class of graduate students to Yale during the matriculation ceremony. The diverse group of students represents nearly 20 countries—53 percent of the class is made up of international students. “The experiences you bring to our community are stunning,” said Jim Levinsohn, dean of the Jackson School and Charles W. Goodyear Professor of Global Affairs. “Learn from each other because you have so much to offer one another. You will have lots of demands on your time, but I hope you take some of that time to build relationships.”
School’s campus expands
Following a summer refresh including new paint, carpets, and furniture, the house located at 46 Hillhouse Avenue is now part of the Jackson School campus. The building will primarily be used for offices and activities related to the school’s International Security Studies research hub. Renovations on other Jackson buildings on Hillhouse Avenue, including T. M. Evans (#56) and Steinbach Hall (#52), are ongoing. The school will continue to occupy Horchow Hall, also located on Hillhouse Avenue.
