Weekly Sports Roundup (12/24–12/30)

With Christmas out of the way, three teams took a break from the winter recess to compete on Friday and Sunday, but the games proved difficult for the Bulldogs. Though all three teams saw losses, the men's hockey team (7–4–2) beat a Russian touring team 10–2 on Friday—the only win last week—only to lose 5–4 to Holy Cross on Sunday. The Bulldogs head to Boston College next Friday.

In other sports news this week (information from Yale Sports Publicity):

Men's Basketball
The Bulldogs (4–9) saw two losses last week. The men's team fell 85–75 to Nevada, and went on to lose 78–62 against St. Mary's. Despite the team's weak performance, Austin Morgan ’13 became the 25th basketball player in Yale history to score 1,000 career points during the game against St. Mary's.

Women's Basketball
Meanwhile, the women's team (3–8) fell 90–67 to Georgetown on Friday. Still, several athletes had a strong showing at the non-league game. Jenna Graf ’14 scored 18 points on six 3-pointers, and Sarah Halejian ’15 recorded a career-high nine assists and scored 15 points.
