A century of women at Yale (Oct. 1992)

In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the admission of women to Yale’s PhD programs, the Graduate School last April held a three-day symposium that drew more than 300 participants whose academic work spanned the spectrum from art history to geophysics. Among the speakers was Nannerl Keohane ’67PhD, the president of Wellesley College, who received her doctorate in political science from Yale in 1967. In an address at the conclusion of the event, on April 26, 1992, Keohane explored the history of women in graduate education at Yale, and discussed their outlook for the future.
