Hendrie renovation moving forward

This will be music to the ears of a lot of people at Yale: the long-delayed renovation of Hendrie Hall for the School of Music and other campus music groups may finally be going forward. The Yale Daily News reports today that the university is in discussion with Stephen Adams ’59 and his wife Denise about a gift that would allow the project to begin next year for completion in 2016. The Adamses were responsible for the $100 million gift that made it possible for the School of Music to give every student free tuition.

The $45 million renovation and construction project will include a new four-story building connecting Hendrie with Leigh Hall, another School of Music building. Hendrie was built in 1900 for the Law School, and has housed the Yale Bands and the Yale Glee Club for decades.
