Forgot to steal your college china? Now you can buy it.

A while back, we reported that Yale's residential college dining halls were no longer using their separate, distinctive china patterns. In the name of efficiency and economy, all 12 dining halls are now using identical plates: white with blue trim, adorned with a small, discreet "Y."

When the change was made, dining hall officials said the old plates would be kept for special occasions, but there must have been some to spare, because Yale Dining is now offering the old plates for sale online for $25 apiece. You can choose from ten residential college patterns (Stiles and Morse have always shared a kitchen and a china pattern, as have Branford and Saybrook in more recent days) or a Yale College plate.

Many alums have gleefully confessed to stealing a complete set during their college days; now there's a way for the law-abiding to get into the act.
