Mandi's Blues

An annual tradition for the women's ice hockey team will turn Blues and white on Friday.

Since 2011, the team has held a yearly fund-raising event to raise money for the Mandi Schwartz Foundation, named for the player who died of leukemia that year. Called "White Out for Mandi," the event aims to pack Ingalls Rink with fans wearing white.

This year, there's a blue twist: the National Hockey League's St. Louis Blues are dropping by to practice at 3 pm. Schwartz's younger brother Jaden, who plays for the Blues, arranged for his teammates to visit from New York between games against the Rangers and the Islanders. The Schwartzes' parents will also be on hand from Canada.

Both the Blues practice and the Yale game against Brown—which begins at 7 pm—are open to the public. There's no charge; donations are accepted at the door.
