Our February 1958 issue featured a photo essay on student rooms, and the cover image was a strangely awkward one. A note on the cover inside the issue explained: “This odd combination of objects in a student room, photographed by A. Burton Street, is primarily a vacation phenomenon. The owner, storing his bicycle while absent from New Haven, has rather curiously chosen to prop it against a table serving as a piano bench. The location of the guitar is appropriate enough, but it would seem as if the telephone must have a somewhat more permanent resting place.”
