We reported last week that chief investment officer David Swensen ’80PhD is getting a tower named after him in recognition of his stewardship of Yale’s endowment over the past 30 years ago. Twenty-five years ago, in our April 1990 issue, we published this portrait as part of a feature on Swensen, noting that in five years he had increased the endowment from $1.3 billion to a whopping $2.3 billion. (At last count on June 30, 2014, it was $23.9 billion.) ___________________________________________ The Yale Alumni Magazine is published by Yale Alumni Publications Inc., an alumni-based nonprofit that is not run by Yale University.
