Yale marked the 17th anniversary of the September 11 attacks with a ceremony of remembrance in the nave of Sterling Memorial Library. Students read the names of the nine Yale alumni who died in the attacks. Featured speaker Jake Fischer ’21, an Army veteran of the war in Afghanistan, emphasized the actions of first responders and volunteers across the country in the aftermath of the attacks. “Americans everywhere rose to the occasion, doing what they could to help,” he said. “Take pride in belonging to a nation that can produce such brave men and women.”
