Yale’s online commencement kicks off at 11 AM Eastern time, but a small band of Yalies couldn’t bear the idea that there wouldn’t be a physical procession in New Haven today. So, equipped with regalia, masks, a banner borrowed from Grace Hopper College, and a smartphone loaded with a commencement playlist, the six marchers set off from Cross Campus and traced the time-honored route themselves, keeping the prescribed six-foot distance. One of the six earned his degree today: John M. Hunt ’18MDiv, ’20STM (second from right). Hunt had come to campus to walk the route alone and happened onto the procession.
