Throwback Thursday: what might have been

125 years ago this month, in our January 31, 1900, edition, we revealed plans for Yale's Bicentennial buildings—Commons, Woolsey Hall, Memorial Hall, and Woodbridge Hall. The original plan, never fully realized, called for a sunken lawn "arranged as to make it convenient for out-of-door exercises on Class Day and at other times."
