More than a thousand people gathered on Cross Campus yesterday evening for what was called a candlelight vigil in support of immigrant and refugee communities—a reaction to President Trump’s executive order banning entry to the United States by citizens from seven countries. Yale president Peter Salovey ’86PhD issued a statement on Sunday criticizing the order and describing Yale’s response. “Today, we at Yale join our voices with all those who are calling for swift reversal of these measures that undermine our university’s—and our nation’s—core values,” wrote Salovey.
