Chapel Street’s Hotel Duncan closed in December for renovations; it will emerge in 2019 as a boutique hotel under a new name and ownership. Until it closed, the 123-year-old Duncan served both nightly guests and a number of long-term tenants. Alums may remember the building best for its basement tenants: the Old Heidelberg occupied the space from 1959 to 1991, followed by the Thai restaurants Cha-da Thai and Thai Taste. What’s your memory of the Duncan?
