Early adopters

On this date in 1878, less than a month after the first telephone exchange was launched in New Haven, the company produced the first phone book—well, phone leaflet is more like it. Note that among the first subscribers was the Yale Daily News, itself less than a month old. Since no Yale administrators are on the list, there must have been a short and blissful time before they had to face late-night calls from YDN reporters.
