When Yale awarded Gloria Steinem—“feminist and firebrand, icon and iconoclast,” above—an honorary degree today, she was one of 11 honorees on the dais. For the first time in Yale history, a majority—eight, to be exact—were women. The honorees and the 4,000-plus other graduates enjoyed a sunny day on the Old Campus.
