Undersea, overhead

Built at the Peabody Museum and first displayed in 1968, this model of a giant squid (Architeuthis dux) has loomed over the museum’s entrance hall since 2004. Thirty-seven feet long, it depicts a young specimen—the adults grow up to 60 feet long.
