Sculptor Claes Oldenburg ’50 died on Monday at age 93. Known around the world for his “colossal monuments,” he is best remembered at Yale for Lipstick (Ascending) on Caterpillar Tracks, which appeared unannounced in Beinecke Plaza in 1969. It eventually found a permanent home in Morse College. Read Judith Ann Schiff’s 2000 “Old Yale” column about the Lipstick here.
