Throwback Thursday: arrival of the lipstick

In our June 1969 issue, we documented the arrival of Lipstick (Ascending) on Caterpillar Tracks, by the late Claes Oldenburg ’50, in Beinecke Plaza. The idea for the sculpture had been hatched when the magazine profiled Oldenburg six months earlier.
