Do not believe the tour guides

Before big lies went mainstream in politics, they were pioneered by Yale student tour guides. Just last week, for the umpteenth time, we heard a straight-faced guide tell the tale of how, when James Gamble Rogers proffered a design for a cathedral to Yale, the university said it needed a library, not a cathedral. Undaunted, Rogers crossed out the word “cathedral” on the blueprints and replaced it with the word “library,” which resulted in Sterling Memorial Library. If you believe that one, we’ve got a building made to look like S&H Green Stamps we’d like to sell you.
