Putting poetry togetherAda Limón, the 24th United States Poet Laureate, spoke in the Art Gallery lecture hall on Wednesday. Limón read ten poems from her published volumes, prefacing each with sources of inspiration. Afterward, she spent 30 minutes fielding questions from the audience, sharing her perceptions of poetry and the writing process. “Revision is primarily where the writing happens,” she said, adding that her revision process feels like working with “a tweezer moving pieces of rice around a page.” Limón is the first Latina to hold the title of US Poet Laureate. Ezra Stiles College and the Yale Center for the Study of Race, Indigeneity, and Transnational Migration sponsored the event.
