<> Griswold served as Yale's president from 1950 to his death from colon cancer in 1963 at age 56. He is largely responsible for Yale's now legendary series of modern architectural masterpieces, e.g. Louis Kahn's Art Gallery of 1953. He also reversed the anti-science bias of previous Yale administrations, and added new fellowships and beautiful laboratories to Science Hill. And he hired Kingman Brewster as Provost. Maybe Yale should name a building after him, yuh think? <>
