In November 1894, the Yale and Harvard football teams met in Springfield, Massachusetts, for their 17th contest, which would come to be known as the "bloodbath in Hampden Park." The Yale team (shown here) won 12–4, but not before several players from both teams were hospitalized in a particularly vicious battle. Read more in this feature from 2004.
