Finding his roots

Yale's 324th commencement took place this morning under sunny skies and cool temperatures. Among the eight honorary degree recipients was Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Jr. ’73, lauded as "an institution builder and drum major for the cultural and intellectual tradition of African American literature and scholarship" and "a proud son of Yale."
