Throwback Thursday: globetrotters

Sixty years ago, in our October 1965 issue, we reported on the Yale Glee Club's round-the-world tour from that summer. The ensemble, shown here being conducted by Fenno Heath in the TWA terminal at Kennedy Airport, sang in 27 cities in eight countries over nine weeks, their longest tour up to then. The Los Angeles Times called them "a superbly trained organization," adding "The Yale boys sing so well you wonder how they have time for anything else."
