On view at the Beinecke through September 27: Unfurling the Flag: Reflections on American Patriotism. The exhibit uses items from Yale's collections to explore "the distinctive ways that leaders and common citizens alike have revisited patriotism" over the nation's history. The Uncle Sam Pez dispenser shown here is part of a trove of "Bicentennial Schlock" collected by Jesse Lemisch ’57PhD and his American studies class at SUNY–Buffalo in the spring of 1976.
