Throwback Thursday: the carillon moves in

In our October 1966 issue, we reported on the installation of 44 new bells in Harkness Tower to turn a set of ten chimes into the 54-bell Yale Memorial Carillon. The bells, which were dedicated on October 2, 1966, were a gift from Hartford philanthropist Marcy Crofut. They are played twice a day during the academic year and in a series of concerts over the summer.  |
