Centered

In the center of an exhibition space in the Art Gallery is a circle of 36 wooden posts representing an isibaya, a cattle enclosure that forms the center of a homestead in the Nguni culture of Southeast Africa. The posts were collected from existing isibaya in eastern Zambia to form the center of Nguni: Migrant Nations of Southeast Africa, an exhibition of art and artifacts of a diasporic culture that was displaced from its original home in South Africa in the 19th century. It runs through June 20, 2027.
