Almost 100 years ago, in January 1927, we published a photo of Sheffield Hall (first photo) at Prospect and Grove, which served as home to the School of Medicine and later as the main building of the Sheffield Scientific School. The occasion for the photo was the removal of a wooden observatory atop the building's tower. Sheffield itself came down in 1931 and was replaced with a new Sheffield Hall, Sterling Tower, and Strathcona Hall, collectively known as SSS (second photo). |
