The Institute of Sacred Music has been training church musicians for more than 50 years, and the local community has long enjoyed performances by ISM-sponsored choirs: the Yale Schola Cantorum, the Yale Camerata, the Yale Cosort, and the Yale Voxtet. This fall, they are joined by the Yale Jubilee Chorale, a project of the institute's Music and the Black Church program that specializes in Black sacred music. Led by Jeffrey Allen Murdock (left), a professor in the practice of sacred music who comes to Yale from the University of Arkansas, the chorale had its auditions and first rehearsals in September. The 24 student singers come from a wide range of Yale schools and disciplines.
